Tomorrow is Always a New Day
Uggh...I have been so sick. I am starting to feel a little better. I finally got some sleep last night, first night all week. My voice still sounds a little Demi Moore'ish but I think Im on the upswing. I just hope now I didn't get the little "A" sick.
Anyway, before I was suddenly attacked by some virus, last Friday I went to visit my sister for some sewing lessons. It has been about 8 years since I last pulled out my sewing machine and I was in need for a serious refresher course. She designs and makes custom handbags. Her new website should be up and running by the end April. I will be sure to post the link. She is very talented. We had a great time hanging out and sewing cute tote bags. She also taught me some silk screening tricks that I can't wait to try out.
I have no recollection of what I did that Saturday but I know Sunday I went to a baby shower. Oh, now I remember, I was shopping and wrapping the present for the baby shower Saturday. Then I probably watched Seinfeld and Family Guy and yadda, yadda, yadda.
So then Monday I was so inspired by my visit with my sister, I went to the fabric store and picked up some cool fabric. I also started some oil paintings, I love the deep colors and texture of oil but Im still trying to find just the right medium to speed up the drying process more. I'm using one by Winsor & Newton right now, but it still isn't fast enough for me. That is why I really love acrylics, the quick drying time but I long for the sheen and brilliance that oils display. Sigh...work in progress.
Then I got sick and I don't paint when Im sick, I feel that might be bad karma being passed along in a painting. But it did give me some time to organize the zillions of ideas that have been floating thru my head. I really needed to do that, clean out the mental clutter. I also browsed thru some sketches I did last summer that I totally forgot about. So all and all down time ended up being a good thing. I'm going to take tomorrow easy (just to be safe) so Im fresh and ready for the new week ahead.
